Woo Hoo! Snow day!!
Kira woke up before the alarm went off, and did all of her getting ready for school jobs before 7:15 this morning--even though her school doesn't start until 8:45. Adam went to take Henry outside to do his business, and discovered that we had at least two inches of snow! We hopped online (along with the rest of PDX) to see what the school closure status would be. We assumed AT LEAST a 2 hour delay, but oh no. It stated, "Regular opening, buses on snow routes".Whaaa? I was seriously thinking that PPS Superintendent, Vicki Phillips must be off her meds. Thankfully, they just made this announcement (finally):
Portland School District - All Portland Public Schools and Offices Closed UPDATE Posted: Tue. 16th, 08:07 AM
Last week there was a ton of hullabaloo over the impending "winter blast" that never really hit. It's been seriously cold for the last five days or so, and the itsy bit of snow and ice we got still hadn't completely melted. We didn't have school last Thursday either, which was very strange. They started out with a 2 hour delay, which made sense due to icy patches all over town (but not on our street). Then this morning they wait until after 8 am to cancel school??? Many schools start at 7:55 am! I can't even believe it. At least the "powers that be" finally came to their senses. Idiots.
It is very beautiful outside though. I'm excited to go out and play...except for the fact that it's currently 27 degrees and "feels like 18 degrees"! Funny, considering the forecast temps were high 39, low 30! I guess that old Jack Frost is just keeping us on our [frostbitten] toes. Happy Snow Day!
